At Birt Guitars we pride ourselves on engineering guitars with flawless playability. Nothing is more important than the perfect neck profile. In that effort, we've put a lot of effort into developing neck profiles that bring out the best in the artist using them. Whether you're a blues guru that likes a meaty neck to dig into or a shredder seeking thin and fast, we have a neck option for you. Below are our most popular options. Vintage Guitar Neck Profiles
The '59
The 59' is a shape based on the classic Les Paul Custom necks. These have a rounder feel and taper from .86" to .96". Great for that vintage tone and feel.
Modern '59
The Modern '59 is a slightly less tapered version of a classic '59 neck. It has a thick, round profile while still maintaining a moderate taper going from .85" at the nut to .94" at the 12th fret.
Modern Fatback
The Modern Fatback is the thickest neck in our line. This is inspired by the vintage "Baseball Bat" style of guitar neck, but instead of maintaining a 1" thickness throughout the neck it tapers from .92" to .98". If you love the vintage feel go with this profile, it will give you all the nostalgia you need while maintaining playability.
Vintage V
The Vintage V is a Soft V shaped neck with a moderately chunky feel. This shape is great for those that wrap their thumb over the top of the neck. The taper goes from .85" to .94" for that solid vintage feel.
Modern Guitar Neck Profiles
Ultra Thin C
The Ultra Thin C is our thinnest profile designed for players that prize fast fretting. The narrow profile allows for more dexterity in your fretting hand. The Ultra Thin C has a taper from .72" to .79".
Medium C
The Medium C has a modern profile going from .81" at the nut to .88" at the 12th fret. This C profile will be comperable to standard Fender style necks.
Thin C
The Thin C profile is a favorite. It has a bit thicker of a profile than the Ultra Thin C, but is plenty thin to allow for easy lead playing. The Slim C has a taper from .75" to .83".
Thick C
The Thick C is a standard taper from .83" to .91". This provides a thicker overall neck while maintaining the same taper many are used to.
