Designing a guitar neck
The neck is probably the most important aspect to consider when designing a guitar. The neck will solely dictate how the guitar feels to the player. When we consider that hudreths of an inch can make a neck go from slim to bulky, it's easy to see how important precision is in this process. The spreadsheet you see here is one of my favorite tools to use when designing a guitar neck. By changing things like scale length, string spacing at the bridge, bridge height, or any other factor I may need to manipulate, this spreadsheet will calculate things like nut and heel width, taper angle, neck angle, and calculate dimensions for jigs I use. Any customer can design their perfect guitar and I can have all of the information I need to make their dream a reality.
